Our Anatolian Shepherd livestock guardian dogs are constantly amazing us. However occasionally they do something that really stands out. In the aftermath of hurricane Michael, we had hundreds of trees blown down and the tops snapped off across our farm. We were in the process of clean up when we heard the top of a very large tree come crashing down. Our first thought was oh crap all those baby goats were sleeping in that area. We rushed over to find several babies under limbs, but they were all still sleeping like nothing had happened. We retrieved each kid and check them out just to make sure they were not hurt.
Now comes the amazing part! We thought we were done and started walking away, Gunny barked at us and then low crawled deep under the fallen tree top and refused to come out. I went and got the chainsaw and started carefully clearing branches till I could reach him. He had crawled in next to a sleeping kid that was pinned under heavy branches and would have never gotten out on his own. We got the baby out and she and Gunny trotted off to lay under another tree with the other kids.
