Anatolian Shepherds are incredible livestock guardians, but in truth they are much more than just a guardian. They are a member of our farm team. Rain or shine they work tirelessly 24/7 keeping your livestock and property protected from both two and four legged predators.
They are a large breed dog that can be intimidating at first glance, but once you get to know one, you’ll find they are gentle giants. You’ll be amazed how careful and nurturing they can be with your family and livestock, but then become very serious when a threat is present and respond accordingly. You’ll be equally impressed with how quickly they return to a gentle kind personality as soon as the threat has been resolved.
This is Gunny. He’s a three year old AKC registered Anatolian Shepherd and the hardest working guy on our farm. His incredible inherent working ability finds him filling many roles from patrolling the fence line to baby sitter duty.
However the most amazing thing he has done is save a baby goat from a fallen tree top.
This is Scout. She’s a three year old AKC registered Anatolian Shepherd. She’s part-time LGD and part-time mother. We let her raise one litter per year and she loves it. She’s an incredible mother that goes so far as to regurgitate her food for her puppies once she starts weaning them off the teat.
She tends to be much more active in her LGD duties at night, preferring to lounge around during the day.
This is Freckles. She’s an AKC registered Anatolian Shepherd. She was about 4 months old at the time of this photograph.
She’s a daughter to Gunny and Scout and loves her goats.
This is Wiggles. She’s an AKC registered Anatolian Shepherd. She was about 7 months old in this picture.
She’s also a daughter to Gunny and Scout and prefers to keep the goats safe by laying in the middle of them.
